The job of dentist includes different tasks. These are tasks such as filling cavities, examining X-rays, applying protective sealant on teeth, pulling teeth and removing decay. Also they are taking measurements and making models for dentures. Moreover they often treat gum disease by performing surgery on patients. Naturally most dentists are handling a variety of dental needs. Some dentists practice in any of nine  specialty areas. Orthodontists is the largest group of specialists. The next largest group are oral and maxillofacial surgeons. They operate on the mouth and jaws. The others may specialize as pediatric dentists. They are focusing on dentistry for children. Such professions as periodontists are treating gums and bone supporting the teeth. Prosthodontists are replacing missing teeth with permanent fixtures. It is such as crowns and bridges. Or it can be removable fixtures, such as dentures. Endodontists are performing root canal therapy. Public-health dentists are promoting good dental health and preventing dental diseases within the community. Oral pathologists are studying oral diseases. Also oral and maxillofacial radiologists are diagnosing diseases in the head and neck through the use of imaging technologies.
Education
There is must be obtained the license for practice dentistry.To apply for a license there is such requirements as graduation from a dental school accredited by the ADA, passing practical and written exams.
