| Surgeon |  The obligations of surgeons are to operate injuries, correct deformities, prevent diseases. But the most important for surgeons is to make correct general improvement the health of patients. They must examine patients to determine in case surgery is necessary or not. It is natural that surgeons perform many kinds of operations. There are some surgeons that specialize at one type of operation. Or there are some who specialize at one system or area of the body. There is a great need of well-knowledge students. A lot of medical colleges have four-year programs. After such colleges you have a chance to become a doctor of medicine. In this way you must have doctor medical (MD) degrees. There are a few medical schools that offer combined undergraduate and medical school programs. It takes from six to eight years. In general medical school is followed by internships and residencies. It is on-the-job training at hospitals. Naturally surgical residency programs last five years. Also surgeons must take licensing examinations. And also more important is to get board certification in their areas of specialization.
Also there is one important point for individuals who want to be surgeons. It is to be self-motivated. Moreover they must have the physical and mental persistent to handle the pressure. And there is must be persistence for long hours of medical education. Surgeons continue studying and making their careers. It is in case to keep current in their fields.
How to get the job
There are a lot of opportunities to become a surgeon. At first you may enter to the private practice or group practice. And it doesn't matter whether it affiliations with one or more hospitals. Some can get the job at the federal government in veterans' hospitals or the military. Very helpful can be college placement offices in finding positions.
