Most graduate programs require the GRE for admission of a student. However, law, medical, and business schools usually require different exams such as LSAT, MCAT, and GMAT, respectively.
All of these exams are standardized, meaning that they are normed, permitting students from different colleges to be compared significantly. The GRE is similar in structure to the SATs but taps student’s potential for graduate level work.
Some programs need the GRE subject test as well, a standardized test that covers up the material in a significant subject. The majority of graduate admissions committees are busy with applications, so apply cut-off scores to the GRE, considering just applications that have scores above the cut-off point. Some institutions make known their average GRE scores in their admissions material and in graduate institution admissions books.
A student should take standardized tests early to guide his or her collection of programs to which to apply as well as ensure that a student’s scores arrive to the programs early, before the admission deadline. |
