| Steps While Choosing a Graduate School | - It is recommended to visit the campus. Along with making telephone or internet contact with the schools he or she is considering, his or her graduate school search should contain a trip to the campus itself. Unless a student is considering the prospect of online or distance learning, getting a feel for the physical environment can play an important role in his or her final decision.
- A student should re-evaluate his or her choices. Once he or she has a more personal view of every graduate program, he or she may take a minute to compare his or her field of choices once more. Now that he or she has additional information, it may be possible to eliminate some of the programs from his or her graduate school search.
- Whether or not a student believes he or she has found the right graduate school program, he or she should take a little time before making his or her final decision. Choosing a school will have an effect on his or her life considerably and he or she does not want to be impulsive about it. If, after a week or so, he or she still feels confident in his or her choice, a student’s graduate school search has ended. If a student still needs more time, or more information, he or she may go back to the programs he or she most prefers or starts over with step one.
