The employment picture is not prosperous in France at the moment, but for those coming out of the French educations system with good graduate qualifications, there is a lot of great opportunities.

Employers usually need graduates with confident written and spoken French. International students are free to stay and work in France after graduating, but most of them must apply to change their official status.

French universities may not have as wide an official careers service for graduating students as their counterparts in other countries. The ‘short programmes’ can include internships or stages with applicable business and industry. These can repeatedly lead to full time employment.

Graduate programs at the ‘Grand Ècoles’ and ‘Specialist Schools’ are usually well attuned to the needs of industry. They can have partnerships with recruiters and business in order to supply for the employment of graduates.

A great number of internatioal students make a decision to remain after their studies. Many of them find employment with international businesses based in France and others find work as language and teaching assistants.
